Choose a knitted sweater with a clear conscience

At Danefæ, we feel a responsibility towards our environment. We want to make products of the highest quality, and at the same time we want to impact the planet as little as possible. The 'mulesing' method is one of the areas we focus on. You may have come across the term in the media, or seen it written in one of our product descriptions. Briefly, it is an operation that some breeders do on their merino sheep, often when they are lambs, where a fold of skin is cut from the sheep to prevent blowflies from laying eggs on them. When the wound has healed after 2 to 4 weeks, the skin appears smooth, and they will therefore not be affected by the blowflies' egg-laying. Unfortunately, this is often done without anesthesia. We distance ourselves greatly from this method, and it is therefore an important matter for us that all our knitwear is made entirely of mulesing-free wool. All our mohair is also RMS certified, which means it meets the applicable standards for animal welfare and working conditions.

At the same time, we also want to take care of the environment, and another important issue is therefore redundant chemicals. At Danefæ, we want to look after you, your skin and the planet. We do this by using materials that are not exposed to any unnecessary chemicals during processing or manufacturing.
